Ask yourself "What did I learn in Sacrament Meeting today?
In Sunday School? How about last week?"
Do you find that you may have been distracted during these
times by other things - even if looking an listening - like thinking about
cleaning your house, past regrets, hopes for the future...etc??
Over Christmas break, Chelsea had the opportunity to meet
with someone that helped her to realize that WE NEED TO BE IN THE PRESENT.
We must let go of regrets and self-induced guilt, we need to
stop worrying about our future - we have no control over these kinds of things
and it simply drains our energy!
Think about and categorize the most important things to you
in your life right now - really - what's most important.
Now, What are some things we can do to KEEP ourselves in
the present?
-Be grateful for the blessings you have NOW
-remember we'll never be at THIS PARTICULAR stage in our
lives again - and be grateful for it!
-Make little reminders of your blessings - note cards,
quotes, whatever - and post them around the house
-Remember what's REALLY important (remember what you listed
before?) and keep that in perspective!
-Remember the Lord is always with you
-Write down your feelings when you are frustrated
-Remember these moments are precious
-Get out and MOVE!
-When you're frustrated, determine exactly why - WHAT is
frustrating you?? - then outnumber the things that make you frustrated with
things that you are grateful for
-try to keep things in perspective
So, how is it that we lose track of "living in the
present"?
1. Through complacency
2. By being "lulled" away into other
mindsets - Satan is so good at his job in leading us astray! It is not through
the big things but through the little things that we are most often distracted
from living in the moment.
Henry B. Eyring once said: "A morning prayer and an
early search in the scriptures to know what we should do for the Lord can set
the course of a day. We can know which task, of all those we might choose,
matters most to God and therefore to us. I have learned such a prayer is always
answered if we ask and ponder with childlike submission, ready to act without
delay to perform even the most humble service."
So, with that, we would like to issue each of you a
CHALLENGE: Start each morning with a PRAYER and ask the Father what
truly is the most important thing you can do that day - then listen, and follow
those words.
Remember these important things:
"Moments are the molecules that make up eternity"
Neal A Maxwell
"It's not so much the major events as the small day-to-day
decisions that map the course of our living." Gordon B. Hinkley
"We would do well to slow down a little...lift up our
eyes and truly see the things that matter most. Brothers and sisters,
diligently doing the things that matter most will lead us to the Savior of the
world."
Sisters - each of you are soooo very loved - please remember
that, and remember to live with gratitude in the moment you are in!
